Parks and Recreation 

Special thanks go out to Tree Pittsburgh who donated 20 trees that were planted in Sangree Park.  The event was organized by One Tree Per Child, Isabela Cajiao-Angelelli.  Also, the volunteers:  Principal at Ross Elementary, Jason Beall, along with 20-6th graders and 5 parent volunteers; 4 U.S. Navy volunteers; Township Manager, Doug Sample, Katie Sabol; Celine Colbert from DCNR; Tree Pittsburgh; Joe Brant from Walk/Bike Ross; Recreation Department, Eloise Peet and Kyle Derry all who volunteered and planted the trees to kick off Ross Township’s Reforestation Plan at Sangree Park, special thanks again to all who made this project a great success.

The Ross Township Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan is in its preliminary phase.  We will be receiving a grant from Allegheny County and the Richard King Mellon Foundation, more to come.

Ross Parks and Recreation Department has been chosen by Pennsylvania Recreation and Parks Society to share the success of the Summer Camp Science and Nature programs at the annual statewide conference in April.

Ross Township Welcomes its New Junior Commissioner

The Board of Commissioners welcomed Lira Murtizi a Senior, at North Hills High School. Lira will be our Junior Commissioner. She informed the Board that the NHSD will be hosting a couple events for the month of November: The North Hills Drama Club will present “The Beverly Hillbillies” on Nov. 15 to 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Hills High School Auditorium. A special free senior citizen matinee will be held on Nov. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the evening productions are $5, and tickets can be purchased at the door for all performances.
