May Business Meeting Date Change

The Board of Commissioner's May Business Meeting has been moved from Monday, May 17th, 2021 to Wednesday, May 19th, 2021. The move was made because Pennsylvania's Primary Election Day is Tuesday, May 18th, 2021.

3 Police Officers Receive Recognition

At the April 19th Board of Commissioner's Meeting, Chief Joe Ley presented Commendations to Officer Peter Chuberko and Detective Michael Kirtley. Chief Ley also presented a Lifesaving Award to Officer Greg Garcia. The recognition stemmed from an incident on July 23rd, 2019, where an Agent from the Office of Attorney General was struck by a suspect's gunfire. These brave officers secured the scene, put an end to the threat and helped save the Agent's life. THANK YOU!

COVID-19 Financial Impact

By: Dan Berty, Finance Director

Due to the state mandated shutdown starting in March 2020, and the subsequent months of restrictions, the Township revised the 2020 Budget in June 2020 to brace for the potential revenue losses expected. The Township cut $2.1 million of expenditures in the 2020 Revised Budget in anticipation of expected revenue losses. The major cuts were made to Capital Infrastructure projects, specifically the Road Program, Bridge Replacements and Slope Stabilization projects. These project cuts were then pushed to be done during the 2021 Budget cycle. Overall, General Fund Revenues did not drop as much as expected, as 2020 Revenues were approximately $355,400 less than revenues in 2019. The Township received approximately $330,000 less in 2020 than 2019 in business related revenues. The Township did receive an unbudgeted $250,000 Cares Act grant that helped supplement revenue reductions. Overall, while Ross Township was forced to reduce services, the Township was able to sustain its financial health.
